Daniel Gil de Tejada
Introduction
Daniel Gil de Tejada is one of the most acclaimed conductors of his generation, with six international awards that have led him to conduct in Italy, France, Poland, Bulgaria, and Romania.
Born in Valencia, he trained at the Joaquín Rodrigo Higher Conservatory of Music in Piano and Choral Conducting with Maestro Eduardo Cifre, and continued his studies at the Royal College of Music in London, where he earned postgraduate degrees in Orchestral Conducting with Neil Thomson and John Carewe, and in Composition with Edwin Roxburgh. At this institution, he received the August Mann and Norman del Mar Prizes.
After his time in London, he began his collaboration with Fundació Òpera Catalunya, where he has conducted more than thirty operas, including premieres of Turandot, Otello, Don Carlo, Falstaff, and Manon Lescaut.
He has won First Prize at the European Union Competition (Spoleto), the Black Sea Opera Conducting Competition (Romania), and the Opera Nice Côte d’Azur (France), in addition to other awards in Trento, Orvieto, and Sofia.
He has conducted at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Teatro Real in Madrid, the Saaremaa Festival (Estonia), the Nice Opera, the Pergolesi Theatre in Jesi, the Teatro Sperimentale in Spoleto, the Palau de la Música in Valencia, the Auditori and Palau de la Música in Barcelona, the Palacio de Festivales in Cantabria, and the Teatro Villamarta in Jerez, among others.
He has worked with orchestras such as the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, the G. Rossini Symphony Orchestra, the Madrid Symphony Orchestra, the Gran Teatre del Liceu Orchestra, the Valencia Orchestra, the Málaga Philharmonic Orchestra, the Córdoba Orchestra, and the Vallès Symphony Orchestra, among others, and with soloists such as Juan Diego Flórez, Elena Mosuc, Saioa Hernández, Fabio Armiliato, María José Siri, and Xabier Anduaga.
He is currently the Music Director of the Fundació Òpera Catalunya and the Sabadell Opera School.
